External process-fixture fasteners

Titanium fasteners for external process fixtures

This page covers specified external bolts, nuts, washers and studs for civil process-equipment fixtures. We do not offer process-wetted components through this website. External mounting hardware still requires review of the drawing, exposure, loads, destination, end user and intended civil use.

Supply boundary

External fixings only

This page is limited to specified external bolts, nuts, washers and studs for civil process-equipment fixtures. Process-wetted pump and valve components, heat-exchanger tubes or plates, and reactor or agitator internals are outside our advertised supply scope. The actual part, destination, end user and end use must be reviewed before order acceptance; an external fastener is not automatically exempt from export controls.

Read our civil-use and export scope before preparing an enquiry.

Applications / 01

External fixture requirements to review

These examples concern external mounting hardware. They do not cover pumps, valves, heat exchangers, reactors or their process-wetted parts. The approved drawing must identify the component function and its contact with any process stream.

External equipment frames

Specified bolts, nuts and washers for external civil-equipment frames can be reviewed against the drawing, loads and ambient exposure. Confirm that the item is outside the process-fluid path.

Guards and instrument mounts

External guard and instrument-mount fixings need the thread, fit, clamp load and mating materials defined. Process-wetted pump and valve parts, exchanger tubes and plates are outside this website's supply scope.

Controlled maintenance replacements

An external mounting fastener replacement needs the approved part reference and drawing revision, intended civil use and installation context. Reactor or agitator internals and their process-wetted components are outside our scope.

Exposure and assembly checks

External exposure and joint checks

Grade 2 is our commercial sourcing focus for specified external hardware. Review the exposure at the actual mounting location and the complete joint. The following questions support RFQ preparation; the project engineering team approves the grade, assembly and maintenance procedure. They do not extend our supply scope to process-wetted equipment or internals.

External exposure to define before quotation
ExposureReview boundaryWhat to state in the RFQ
Atmosphere and depositsDescribe outdoor or sheltered placement, humidity, salt deposition and nearby hot surfaces. The equipment process rating does not define a fastener's external exposure.Installation location, external temperature range, deposits and wet/dry cycles.
Incidental splash and washdownIdentify occasional external splash and planned washdown separately from continuous process contact. Parts in the process-fluid path are outside this page's supply scope.Splash source, frequency, contact time and whether the drawing keeps the fastener outside the fluid path.
Cleaning and rinsingReview the cleaner against the complete joint, including mating metals, coatings and lubricants. A cleaning procedure for the equipment body is not automatically suitable for every fastener assembly.Cleaner product or composition, dilution, contact time, frequency, rinsing and drying instructions.
Water retention and accessShow pockets, overlaps and deposits that can retain moisture or obstruct inspection. The responsible engineering team should review drainage and maintenance access.Joint geometry, drainage paths, access for cleaning and the inspection or replacement interval.

The equipment body, washers, coatings and installation method are part of the same joint review.

Four joint checks for external mounting fasteners
CheckWhy it mattersWhat to tell us
Mating metals and galvanic contactIn a wet, electrically connected joint, titanium can accelerate corrosion of a less noble mating metal. Assess the complete assembly rather than the titanium item alone. All mating metals, exposed areas, coatings and the expected wetting conditions.
Isolation and continuityAny insulating washers, sleeves or coatings must be reviewed with the required load transfer, fits, electrical bonding and maintenance plan. Isolation is a project design decision.Approved isolation details, coating interfaces and any electrical continuity requirement.
Loads, fit and lockingThe approved drawing governs the joint load, thread fit, engagement and locking method. Corrosion resistance alone does not establish mechanical suitability.Fastener standard, dimensions, tolerances, clamp-load requirement, washers and locking details.
Thread galling and installationTitanium threads can gall during assembly. Surface condition and lubrication matter; use a qualified installation procedure rather than a generic torque value.Specified finish or lubricant, preload or installation procedure, and the team responsible for approving it.

Technical background for galvanic contact and galling: TIMET corrosion resistance of titanium (PDF); TIMET design and fabrication handbook (PDF). These references do not establish suitability for a particular mounting joint.

For grade selection, read the Grade 2 vs Grade 5 titanium fasteners guide. Confirm the permitted product scope through our civil-use and export scope.

Scope / 02

External process-fixture RFQ framework

Define the external mounting function, exposure and assembly before price and delivery are discussed. Final material selection and joint suitability remain subject to the approved project specification and engineering review.

External exposure

Identify outdoor or sheltered placement, ambient conditions, deposits and any external splash. Confirm the component is outside the process-fluid path.

Cleaning and maintenance

Provide the cleaning product or composition, dilution, contact time, frequency and rinse or drying procedure that reaches the external joint.

Controlled drawing

Send the approved drawing or standard with revision, dimensions, tolerances, thread fit and the external mounting function.

Joint and assembly

List mating metals, washers, coatings, locking details and any approved isolation. Identify loads and the qualified installation procedure.

Material records

Specify the grade, product or fastener standard and required traceability. MTC / EN 10204 3.1 can be requested where applicable.

End use and release

Identify the actual end user, intended civil use and destination. Define inspection points, reports and hold points before quotation; order acceptance remains subject to the export-scope review.

Working note

Start with one defined requirement

Start with the external fastener drawing or standard, part reference, quantity, required date, destination and documentation needs. Identify the external mounting function and intended civil use for each item.

We work through the Baoji titanium supply chain and confirm the proposed supplier route, documentation and inspection scope before you commit. Availability, minimum quantity and delivery are stated in the quotation for each requirement. The release-document checklist helps define the evidence your project needs.

Buying questions

Questions for external mounting fastener RFQs

Answers for civil-equipment buyers preparing an external fastener enquiry. Supply scope, technical acceptance and any required export authorization are reviewed before order acceptance.

Can external titanium fasteners be reviewed for splash or washdown areas?

Yes, as an enquiry for external mounting hardware. Identify the splash source, frequency, contact time, cleaner and rinse procedure, plus the drawing, loads and mating materials. The project team must approve the specified grade and joint; process-wetted equipment parts are outside our supply scope.

Do titanium fasteners need electrical isolation from the equipment body?

It depends on the complete assembly. In a wet, electrically connected joint, titanium can accelerate corrosion of a less noble mating metal. Provide all mating metals, exposed areas, coatings and any bonding requirement. The responsible engineer must define whether isolation is needed and how it affects the joint.

What cleaning and installation details should the RFQ include?

State the cleaner product or composition, dilution, contact time, frequency, rinsing and drying procedure. Include the thread fit, surface finish, specified lubricant, locking method and project-approved installation procedure. Titanium threads can gall; do not assume a universal torque value.

What should an external process-fixture RFQ include?

Send the approved drawing or fastener standard, revision, grade, dimensions, quantity, required date and destination. Identify the external mounting function, actual end user and intended civil use, exposure, loads, mating materials and release documents. Process-wetted parts are outside our supply scope. MTC / EN 10204 3.1 can be requested where applicable.

Use the titanium fastener sourcing page for specified external hardware. Review our civil-use and export scope before submitting an RFQ.
